How do you know your book genre? The genre that you will spend most of your time writing in. For your current book, and perhaps many others. But many writers are exploring different genres to find which one is best for them.
Every writer is different. The way you find your genre, will not be the same way other writers find their genre. And that’s okay!
My genre is YA Romance. It was always my favorite  to read, and I’ve really felt called to it as a writer. But sometimes, it’s not that easy.
Sometimes you may not know if you should pick a book genre before you start writing. If you’ve got a great idea, but don’t know what genre it falls under, don’t stop writing! Some writers choose their book genre, but some genres choose their writer.
Julie Dawn shares fantastic insight into knowing your book’s genre.

Meet Julie Dawn

Julie Dawn is the artist behind the Meadowlark series. Her work spans over contemporary horror, dark fantasy, and speculative fiction. She makes no excuses for immersing readers into a suspenseful and over-stimulating story.
She grew up in New Jersey, smoldered in North Carolina for a bit, and now lives in Oregon. It was on the Oregoan Coast under bright stars that she started writing again, determined to change the world one story at a time.
If you see her sipping tea at a coffee shop, or handing out bookmarks at Comic Cons say, “Hi!” Its always great to connect with a kindred soul.
